My aims are to seduce the viewer by conveying images, forms, space and thoughts through the making of my art objects. My tactile and sensual surfaces do not intend to compete with technology or realism, as you will always see the hand of the maker in my work. I feel there is an over exposure to the photographic image thrust upon us, carrying their subliminal messages; they are seen on television, street corners, movies, also in the arena of magazines and newspapers, but they are all in truth a fantasy. I work to challenge the viewer emotionally through the visual exploration of smooth, textured and disrupted surfaces.

Sometimes words are not enough to express how we feel. Our own perceptions are very personal as all flesh on this earth comes from a different perspective of culture, circumstance, environment and background. We pass on information from everything we see, hear, or read to the next person with a small piece of ourselves added. Each generation bears to both its forbears and to its descendants to link past, present and future, these three dimensions of time are the journey to eternity. I wish through my way of seeing to share this journey.

Art is not imitation but illusion. - CHARLES READE, Christie Johnstone
